Overview

The UK government's global scholarship programme, funding a one-year taught master's degree at any UK university for future leaders from over 160 eligible countries and territories. Around 1,800 scholarships are awarded each year.

About UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)

Chevening is the UK government's flagship international scholarships programme, run by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and funded through the UK's official development assistance budget. It's designed to build a global network of future leaders with links to the UK, rather than to fund study for its own sake — alumni are expected to return home and apply what they've learned. Chevening funds one-year taught master's degrees at any UK university, and is open to citizens of more than 160 eligible countries and territories.

Coverage & Financial Benefits

• Full tuition fees paid directly to the university
• Monthly living stipend (approx. £1,347)
• Return economy airfare and a homeward leave allowance
• Arrival allowance, travel grants and a thesis grant where applicable

Requirements & Eligibility

• Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
• Return to your home country for at least 2 years after the award
• Minimum 2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience
• An undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master's, completed at least 2 years before the deadline
• Apply to 3 different eligible UK university courses

How to Apply
