UK: Civil Service Commission & Civil Service Careers

Overview

The Civil Service Commission safeguards the principle that UK civil service recruitment is based on merit through fair and open competition, while Civil Service Careers (gov.uk) is where the roles it oversees are actually advertised and applied for, spanning departments across Whitehall and beyond.

About Civil Service Commission (UK) / Civil Service Careers

Civil Service Jobs is the official recruitment site for the UK's civil service, covering roles across government departments and agencies at every grade from administrative assistant to senior civil service. Recruitment standards are overseen by the independent Civil Service Commission, which exists specifically to ensure appointments are made on merit through fair and open competition rather than political appointment.
